How to Correctly Fit Your Knee Brace for Motocross

Whether you're hitting the motocross track, exploring technical trails, or lining up for a race, protecting your knees should be a top priority. Knee braces are essential for preventing injuries and offering support during high-impact landings, slides, and unexpected crashes. But even the best knee brace on the market won't do its job if it's not fitted properly.

At EVS Sports, we’ve spent nearly four decades perfecting our knee brace technology. From the elite-level Web Eclipse to the versatile Axis Sport and TP199 knee guards, we understand the importance of both innovation and comfort. Here’s how to make sure you're getting the best performance out of your gear by fitting your knee brace the right way.

Step 1: Choose the Right Size

Every rider's leg shape is unique. Start by consulting the manufacturer’s size chart and measuring your thigh and calf circumference at the points indicated. Our EVS braces come in multiple sizes (S, M, L, XL), so it’s crucial to match your measurements for a snug, but not overly tight, fit. A properly sized brace should stay in place without restricting circulation or causing discomfort.

Step 2: Position It Properly

Your knee brace should be centered directly over your kneecap when your leg is slightly bent. The hinge system (like our patented Tru-Motion 2.0 or 3.0 hinge) is designed to mimic the natural movement of your knee, so the alignment matters. If it’s sitting too high or too low, it won’t protect you effectively.

Step 3: Secure the Straps

Start strapping from the bottom up or as recommended by the specific brace design. For example, our 5-Point Strapping System is designed to function independently across different areas of the leg. Make sure each strap is tightened just enough to hold the brace in place, but not so much that it cuts off blood flow. If your brace has a compression cuff or Shark Skin liner like the Web Eclipse, it should naturally hug your calf to prevent migration while riding.

Step 4: Test Movement

Walk around, squat, and flex your leg. Your brace should move with you and stay aligned. If it shifts or causes pinching, make adjustments. You want it to feel like a natural extension of your body, not a bulky add-on.

Step 5: Pair It with the Right Undergear

Using base layers like our TUG Fusion Socks or Moto Boxers can significantly improve the comfort and fit of your knee brace. These pieces wick moisture, prevent chafing, and keep the brace in place for long rides.

Bonus Tip: Don’t Skip Regular Checks

Check the condition of your straps, hinges, and liners regularly. Clean your brace after muddy rides and ensure all components are working as intended. A well-maintained brace not only lasts longer but continues to offer the highest level of protection.

Choosing the best knee brace for motocross is about more than just brand names,  it's about fit, comfort, and confidence. Whether you’re wearing the Web Eclipse, Axis Pro, or TP199s, proper fit is key to performance. Ride smart, ride protected, and always protect your passion.
